Danielle Wade will star in the national tour of Shucked as Maizy! Shucked features a book by Tony Award winner Robert Horn, a score by Grammy Award winners, Tony Award nominees and Nashville music superstars Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally, and direction by three-time Tony Award winner Jack O’Brien. Casting for the tour will be announced at a later date.
'Hadestown' Announces New West End Lead Casting →
Hadestown will bid farewell to current stars Dónal Finn (Orpheus) and WhatsOnStage Award winner Grace Hodgett-Young (Eurydice) on 25 August 2024, with the duo having originated their roles in the West End when the musical first opened at the Lyric. Replacing them from 27 August 2024 will be Dylan Wood (Orphans, No Love Songs), making his West End debut to play Orpheus, with Madeline Charlemagne, having been playing a Fate since the launch of Hadestown in the West End, will step into the role of Eurydice. Replacing Charlemagne as one of the three Fates from the 27th is Francessca Daniella-Baker (My Fair Lady)

‘Glengarry Glen Ross’ Sets Broadway Return with Kieran Culkin, Bob Odenkirk and Bill Burr →
David Mamet’s Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Glengarry Glen Ross will receive a Broadway revival in spring 2025. Tony Award-winner Patrick Marber will direct the production, which will star Kieran Culkin as Richard Roma, Bob Odenkirk as Shelly Levene and Bill Burr as Dave Moss. The revival will be produced by Jeffrey Richards and Rebecca Gold.

Cast and Creative Team Finalized for ‘Our Town’ →
Complete casting has been revealed for the upcoming Broadway revival of Thornton Wilder’s Our Town. Ricardo Vázquez and Greg Wood will join the company in the role of Townspeople in the Kenny Leon-helmed production. Our Town will begin previews on Sept. 17 and open Oct. 10. The revival is scheduled to play a limited engagement through Jan. 19, 2025.

‘Empire Records’ Musical Will Premiere at McCarter Theatre Center →
McCarter Theatre Center will produce the world premiere of Empire Records. The new musical, adapted from the 1995 film of the same name, will begin previews on Sept. 6 and open on Sept. 13 at McCarter’s Berlind Theatre in Princeton, New Jersey. Directed by Trip Cullman and choreographed by Ellenore Scott, the production is scheduled to play a limited engagement through Oct. 6.

'The Heart of Rock and Roll' Wins AEA Award for Outstanding Broadway Chorus →
The chorus of the new Broadway musical The Heart of Rock and Roll, which plays the James Earl Jones Theatre, has been named the recipient of the 2024 Actors' Equity Association Award for Outstanding Broadway Chorus. “This season has been an incredibly exciting one for the chorus with more eligible companies than any other year since the ACCA Award began,” said Actors’ Equity Association 2nd Vice President Al Bundonist. “There is extraordinary work being done by chorus members across Broadway, but at the James Earl Jones, this chorus lights up the stage with their versatility and creativity…Through the chorus, the heart of the 1980s is still beating.”

‘& Juliet’ Recoups on Broadway →
& Juliet is officially a hit. The Tony Award-nominated musical featuring the pop hits of Max Martin has made back its $17 million investment. & Juliet began previews on Oct. 28, 2022, and opened on Nov. 17 at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, where it has since grossed more than $93,000,000. The show is the first new musical from the 2022-23 season to announce recoupment.

‘Gypsy,’ starring Audra McDonald, will reopen Broadway’s Majestic Theatre →
Six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald will return to Broadway in Gypsy. The production, in which McDonald will take on the central role of Rose, will begin previews on Nov. 21 and open on Dec. 19 at the Majestic Theatre, becoming the first production to play there since the April 2023 closing of The Phantom of the Opera. Tony winner George C. Wolfe will direct and Tony nominee Camille A. Brown will choreograph the revival.

‘Spamalot’ Revival to Open on Broadway This Fall →
This new production, which had a 10-day run in May at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, will be the musical’s first Broadway revival. Previews are scheduled to begin Oct. 31, and the opening is set for Nov. 16 at the St. James Theater. The executive producer will be Jeffrey Finn, who is the Kennedy Center’s vice president of theater producing and programming.

The show arrived off-Broadway in 2016, then played in Edmonton and London before officially debuting on Broadway in 2019. It was an immediate hit, winning eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Original Score for Mitchell, and Best Direction of a Musical for Rachel Chavkin.

‘Transparent’ musical aiming for 2024 Broadway run →
Following a world premiere at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles, producers behind “A Transparent Musical” have announced their intention to bring the production to Broadway in 2024. Amazon Studios produced the Los Angeles engagement in partnership with Center Theatre Group and Tony Award-winning producer Eva Price. The musical opened in Los Angeles on May 23 and ran through June 25.
