Six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald will return to Broadway in Gypsy. The production, in which McDonald will take on the central role of Rose, will begin previews on Nov. 21 and open on Dec. 19 at the Majestic Theatre, becoming the first production to play there since the April 2023 closing of The Phantom of the Opera. Tony winner George C. Wolfe will direct and Tony nominee Camille A. Brown will choreograph the revival.

‘Spamalot’ Revival to Open on Broadway This Fall →
This new production, which had a 10-day run in May at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, will be the musical’s first Broadway revival. Previews are scheduled to begin Oct. 31, and the opening is set for Nov. 16 at the St. James Theater. The executive producer will be Jeffrey Finn, who is the Kennedy Center’s vice president of theater producing and programming.

The Australian pop artist will play Persephone, Queen of the Underworld, alongside Tony nominee Phillip Boykin, who is joining the hit musical as Hades … Hadestown, written entirely by Anaïs Mitchell, has enjoyed a wildly successful rise since it first debuted in 2006. The show arrived off-Broadway in 2016, then played in Edmonton and London before officially debuting on Broadway in 2019. It was an immediate hit, winning eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Original Score for Mitchell, and Best Direction of a Musical for Rachel Chavkin.

The Heart of Rock & Roll has a book by Jonathan Abrams and a score of Huey Lewis hits, including “The Heart of Rock and Roll,” “Hip to be Square,” “Power of Love,” “Do You Believe in Love?,” “If This Is It,” “Doing It All for My Baby,” “Stuck with You,” "I Want a New Drug,” “It’s Alright,” and “Heart and Soul.” The musical, which is aiming for a 2024 Broadway bow, is produced by Hunter Arnold and Tyler Mitchell. ‘Transparent’ musical aiming for 2024 Broadway run →
Following a world premiere at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles, producers behind “A Transparent Musical” have announced their intention to bring the production to Broadway in 2024. Amazon Studios produced the Los Angeles engagement in partnership with Center Theatre Group and Tony Award-winning producer Eva Price. The musical opened in Los Angeles on May 23 and ran through June 25.
